1. 1 moment was in chapter two it talked about Grand theft auto. I actually own that game and it is pretty violent. I don't think its meant for little kids because of the language and sexy women.
2. Newspapers hitting the internet made life so much easier. You didn't have to spend that quarter to get a sunday news paper. You were able to view it at the convenience of your own home!
3. Google buys youtube in 2006. I did not know this fact until i read it in the book. I'm wouldn't be surprised how much google owners are making now! They are truly billionaires.

Week 10: Media Ethics/Media Law
There was a case between PsyStar (a Apple imitation found in california) vs. Apple. PsyStar was illegally selling copied, modified, and distributing Apple's code. It has not been settled yet but it was stated that Apple has already won and are now finalizing the consequences.

Week 9: Propaganda in Advertising/PR
ProActiv!
Ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t8ybNdcbxg
Half-Truth: This ad is considered a half truth because what it doesn't tell you is that you have to keep using it in order to maintain the pore-less skin you desire. It's basically like a life-long contract that you unwillingly sign.
Bandwagon: It shows celebrities in many of the ProActiv commercials. Because celebrities have a big impact on how people dress and what people talk about, its easier for them to sell their product with a celebrity vouching for them.

Week 7: Internet
When I searched for 'social working websites', there was about 20 sites listed. I've heard of Myspace and Facebook(which I currently use). However, many of these sites I've never come across. One site that is not included is Friendster. Chewster is a site that is helps you connect with people within the film industry. It keeps your connected between companies and even helps you to find employment. You use social networking sites helps you keep in touch with friends, families, and coworkers. It also can be used as finding soul mates and what not. One incident that my sister went through on myspace was when my cousin saw her at a party doing things she shouldn't be doing at the age of 18.

Week 5: Movies or Recordings
My favorite movie from the year 2009 would be District 9. I saw this movie at a movie theater located within a shopping center. District 9 delivered in a very different way compared to other movies. It was a mix of it being a documentary, shooting in first person, and as well as third person viewing. The movie was also a mix of action and romance and it kept me on my toes during the entire movie.

Week 4: Magazines
The name of my magazine will be titled CompGeek. It will be a magazine that supplies articles about the computer industry. This will be different from our competitor 'PC Magazine' because articles will consists of new parts/old parts, what not to invest in, new technology and whats in the process, and the gaming industry and how its evolving. I plan to target the middle aged group because that's the age group where they tend to be the most interested. 5 advertisers I think will reach my readers would be Nvidia (video graphics), HP/Dell/Acer (laptops/Monitors), office furniture providers, and gaming software by Valve or Blizzard Entertainment. The cover of my issue will show the ultimate computer, along with eye catching visuals and graphics of the most popular games that are out.

Week 3: Books
The three books I chose for this blog: The Bible, Catcher in the Rye, and Harry Potter. The Bible has always been a part of my life. I grew up in a heavily religious family that went to church every Sunday and always being preached to about the Bible. Catcher in the Rye is probably my all time favorite book. It is the first book I read with free speech. It is really heavy on the profanity and portraits independence within the main character that I really like. Although I read only the first two books of Harry Potter, it provided very good entertainment. It was one of the "better" books i have read and I would enjoy re-reading.

Week 1: Media Autobiography
I have always been exposed to several types of media. Reading caught my eye in the early years of elementary school. However, once I entered high school, my perspective for reading changed. I had to read long novels combined with research papers and exams. Reading was no longer fun. While in elementary school, the internet was introduced to some as new technology. The internet provided many students the use of emails, online books, school activities, and everyone’s favorite; video games. I consume a good amount of time sitting in front of the computer just browsing around on the internet rather than doing homework. The radio is an interesting type of media. It has a variety of stations that broadcast music, news, sports, etc. As for myself, I use it to listen to music while in the car. The radio keeps me entertained and also provides advertisements that might be proved to be useful.Movies and television have always been a hobby of mines. Whether it is a sitcom or a horror movie playing, the television has always been a part of me. As I was growing up, cartoons and sing-a-long VHS’s (Barney) were provided by my parents. It kept me distracted and amused. Unfortunately, the major that I’m leaning over to does not require any of the mass media listed on the assignment. I would however, be interested in being a part of the internet/television field just because I’m experienced and educated in that field.
